Release of Tentative Collective Agreement and Voting Details
A tentative collective agreement was reached last week following two years of intensive negotiations aimed at amalgamating the 37 (anglophone) teacher collective agreements under provincial jurisdiction.
We are pleased to share detailed information about the proposed agreement and plans for ratification.
Tentative Agreement Details: You can review the details of the tentative agreement by logging in to your My Profile account and clicking on the Provincial Bargaining tab and selecting Membership Update.
Ratification Vote Information: The ratification vote will take place online from August 1 to August 7. Detailed instructions for online voting will be provided closer to the voting period.
Requesting a Paper Ballot: If you prefer to vote using a paper ballot, you must request one. Click here to request a paper ballot. Please include your name, member number, and where you would like the ballot mailed in the email. The deadline to request a paper ballot is July 24. Paper ballots must be returned to the Chief Electoral Officer and postmarked by August 7. A return mail envelope will be provided.
Important Dates:
• Deadline for requesting a paper ballot: July 24
• Ratification Vote Online: August 1 – August 7
• Deadline for returning paper ballots: Postmarked by August 7
Reporting of Results: The voting will close at 4:00 PM on August 7, and the results will be reported soon after.
Updating Your Contact Information: To ensure you receive all communication regarding bargaining and voting, please verify that your primary email address in our database is current. You can update your information by following these simple steps:
1. Log in to your My Profile account.
2. Click on make changes.
3. Click on update email.
4. Enter the email address where you would like to receive bargaining and voting updates and click “make primary”.

Bill 35
Bill 35 –The Education Administration Amendment Act will enact significant reforms to the public education system. The bill which received royal assent on May 30, 2023, will be implemented through a selective proclamation process (become law) in the stages outlined below:
Appoint a director of certification to oversee the certification process for teachers and the registry (completed).
Appoint a commissioner to receive and process misconduct or incompetence complaints from any source, including school divisions (summer 2024).
Create a public online registry of teachers (launch January 2025).
Establish competence standards that teachers must meet to be issued and maintain a teaching certificate (TBA).
The Society is actively involved in consultations with the department of education and will continue to provide updates throughout the process.
